About the Item

Italian antique gilded Florentine box, octagonal shape realized in white walnut, engraved on each side and the top and with bulin scrolling decoration. The box dates back to the last quarter of 18th century, is in fair condition, with wear consistent with use and age. The original gold leaf gilding shows its three centuries of history, only a few traces of gilding remain on the lid whereas the red color of the Armenian Bolus preparation is much more evident. The box is hand realized with volutes motif engravings. Inside they are not lined. In Italy this kind of work of art is the so called NUNS BOX, the box preserving all the memories of the nuns entering the convent. Florence, Italy, last quarter of 1700s. A lovely antique Italian handmade box for collectors. Measures: Height 5 cm x width 13 cm x depth 8 cm. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
