About the Item

This stunning rustic Buddha box stand table is a late 19th century offering box. Significant Triangular shape box stand table set on legs carved as Naga's and painted. Naga's are often represented as door guardians. In more remote villages open boxes of Triangular shape where used for collecting offerings from visitors. People would place food or money in these boxes when visiting to practice / worship / pay respects at a Buddhist temple, shrine, or site. These collections help those devotees who work to maintain the site and help those in need amongst The Sangha community. In Buddhism, the symbol of a triangle appears as the three bodies of Buddhahood (Trikaya) which includes the Body of Essence, the Body of Enjoyment, and the Body of Transformation. A very special decorative piece that can be used as side table or stand or however your mind can imagine. Good rustic condition, paint loss. Northern Thailand.
