About the Item

A 19th-century Regency-style workbox, often used for sewing or storing jewelry. It is crafted from figured Rosewood and features marquetry inlays. The interior fabric covered tray lifts out to reveal a red papered interior. The lid is adorned with a decorative papered scene in a classical mother and child image. The box has a bone escutcheon in Diamond shape and is bordered by chequered banding and has side ring pull handles. The box rests on small ball brass feet. Dimensions: 9" x 7 1/4" x 5" H Condition: Please see detail photos. Various acceptable signs of age include some losses to the inlaid stringing, no key, stable age crack to top of lid, losses to the brass feet with the box retaining an elegant antique presentation.
