About the Item

An exceptional circa 1860 Russian decorative box crafted in carved bone and richly embellished with stained green bone panels, intricate etched decoration, and finely detailed hand painted ornamentation. The rectangular form is crowned by a stepped lid centered with a delicate pierced panel, framed by scrolling foliate motifs rendered in soft greens, warm reds, and natural tonal variations that give the surface remarkable depth and visual texture. Each side is thoughtfully composed with layered ornamental panels, showcasing the refined craftsmanship and decorative artistry associated with 19th century Russian objects of virtu. Raised on small bun feet, the box possesses a sculptural presence that feels both elegant and functional, ideal for a collector’s cabinet object or statement accent within a curated interior.
