About the Item

A charming antique 19th century British pine document box with iron handles, monogrammed L.B. Elliott on a brass plaque on the top. Handcrafted with solid dovetail construction and an abundance of black metal strapping giving this storage box a old English aesthetic. Open the lid to see strips of blue marble paper lining. The top and bottom interior has contemporary blue marble paper inserts. Original brass hinges and lock, though there is no key. Condition commensurate with age and use. Scratches in the pine wood, abrasions on the black metal strapping, and scratches on the brass monogrammed plaque. Repairs have been made to the top including replacing black tacks that were missing.
