An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III sterling silver biscuit box; an addition to the Georgian silverware collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III sterling silver biscuit box has an oval shaped form. The body of the antique silver biscuit box is embellished with chased fluted decoration to the lower portion. The flared upper rim is encompassed with an applied gadroon decoration accented with leaf decoration. This antique box retains the original hallmarked push fit cover ornamented with further fluted decoration and surmounted with the original silver topped, painted finial. The box surmounts the original hallmarked base, with a raised well to the centre and encompassed with further applied decoration, reflecting that of the box. By virtue of its size this versatile Georgian biscuit box could be used for a multitude of functions. Such examples with the fine feature of the original tray base are uncommon; this box is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. This Georgian biscuit box in sterling silver is a distinguished gift for weddings, anniversaries - especially the 25th - milestone birthdays, retirements or housewarmings; combining elegance with timeless craftsmanship. Condition This antique biscuit box is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and plate, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Georgian silverware.
