About the Item

Very pretty Art Deco love letter box in carved walnut wood, would also be great to keep jewellery in. Two detailed carved doves lying in an amorous embrace pose on a wooden base in which a love letter compartment is 'hiding'. The 'box' part is made out of oak veneered with walnut, the inside of the box part is made of rosewood. The doves are made out of one piece of heavy walnut except for one of the tail tips, an extra piece of small walnut was used to finish the tail, probably a slight miscalculation made by Mr R. Vidal 100 years ago.

Early 1900s French Neoclassical Oval Brass Jewellery Box with Agate Moth Decor

Early 1900s French Neoclassical Oval Brass Jewellery Box with Agate Moth Decor

Located in Haarlem, NL

Very pretty and heavy early 1900s Neo-Classical oval brass jewellery box with 2 moth decorations carved in agate. The figures on the (I think machine made repoussé) side look like from Roman times. The middle-eastern little tent shaped lid feels very Moorish, also the round glass 'gem stone' decorations look like the decoration on antique Moorish jewellery...

19th Century Cast Iron French Figural Bird Heron Paper Clip or Letter Holder

By Susse Freres

Located in Haarlem, NL

Rare 19th century French heavy cast iron clip with spring in the shape of a birds head. Most likely a heron, the hinge in its 'jaw joint' makes its beak act as a clip. You pinch the back and its feathered neck to open the beak. So this pretty item could be used as paper clamp...
