About the Item

A large and substantial vintage hand blown glass and bronze caged casket, apothecary box or bonbonnière, made in the 20th century. Both the body and the lid of this casket have thick lobed blown glass bubbles sectioned off by bronze panels. Made in the baroque style, it has generous proportions and hatched organic designs decorating the gold-coloured bronze cage, as well as an elegant finial to the lid and rococo style feet. Made in the 20th century, this is a heavy and substantial lidded box that can serve as a candy or trinket box, a biscuit box, a bonbonnière, a jewelry box, an apothecary jar, or perhaps as a cigar humidor. It is highly versatile, as well as being extremely decorative. The condition is very good with only some slight chips to the interior rim of the glass of the body, most likely a result of the process of manufacture and hardly noticeable. It could be used for any number of different uses, from sweets, potpourri or simply as a decorative item, as it has great presence.
