About the Item

This fabulous modernist small stainless steel box is by the artist Stanley Scwarz and all hand crafted. His life span was 1928-2011. He was a Polish American artist who resided most of his life in Chicago. His boxes were salvaged stainless steel. it is his signature detail of always green felt in the interior and raised modernist designs on top and sides. He is no longer living and produced amazing boxes in his lifetime all very detailed and different. Some had mask forms others had wildly created other forms. He was an industrial creative man exploring. He was bending industry into objects that had folkloric forms filled with wonder, question and poetry of design. From the late 80's or 90's. This one was in his personal collection. It has great weight to it. Some were signed while others were not that came of his private collection after he passed away. We have sold a plethora of his boxes over the years and know his boxes all too well. Most are one of a kind. This makes a great desk accessory, entryway or bedside box.
