About the Item

Val Saint Lambert (Attrib.) Red Floral Cut-to-Clear Crystal Table Box A richly detailed cut-to-clear crystal table box is attributed to Val Saint Lambert, Belgium, circa 1920. This round lidded box features a thick, clear lead crystal body with vertical fluting and a star-cut base, paired with a striking ruby red overlay lid. The lid is deeply wheel-engraved in a continuous garland of stylized floral and foliate motifs—classic of VSL’s early 20th-century decorative vocabulary. The red overlay is cut through with precision to reveal the clear crystal below, creating a vivid contrast and showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship for which Val Saint Lambert is known. The top also features a starburst-cut medallion at the center, echoing the pattern on the base. The lid rests neatly over the body without a hinge, typical of dresser and vanity boxes from the period. Highly collectible and visually refined, this piece reflects the Art Deco era's blend of elegance and technical virtuosity. Dimensions: 4.5″ diameter × 3″ high Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks; minor surface wear to the base appropriate to age. A luminous and decorative example of early 20th-century Belgian cut glass by a master glassworks.

Late 19th C French Fire Gilt Ormolu Cut Glass Table Box, Attributed to Baccarat

Late 19th Century French Fire-Gilt Ormolu and Cut Crystal Table Casket, Attributed to Baccarat A refined French fire-gilt ormolu and cut crystal table box, dating to the late 19th century and attributed to Baccarat. The rectangular casket is executed in heavy crystal, cut in the pointe de diamant (diamond point) pattern, with a richly faceted surface that sparkles with light. The base is finished with a classic starburst cut (étoile taillée), a hallmark of Baccarat’s precision craftsmanship. The crystal is mounted in finely chased fire-gilt bronze, the band encircling the box decorated with laurel leaf and berry motifs, symbols of victory, eternity, and refinement within the French neoclassical tradition. The lockplate is adorned with a foliate wreath surrounding the keyhole, adding both ornamental and symbolic significance, as the casket was intended to hold cherished personal objects, jewels, or keepsakes. The ormolu mount retains a rich, warm fire gilding, applied by the traditional mercury gilding process, and features a continuous rear hinge—an indicator of the precision fittings used by Baccarat and other leading Parisian luxury workshops of the period. The box opens to a generous interior, ideal for use as a boîte à bijoux (jewel casket), boîte à bonbons (sweetmeat box), or wedding casket...

Lalique "Épis" Crystal and Silver-Plated Table Box, France, Circa 1980s

Lalique "Épis" Crystal and Silver-Plated Table Box, France, Circa 1980s

By Lalique

Located in West Palm Beach, FL

Lalique "Épis" Crystal and Silver-Plated Table Box, France, Circa 1980s Lalique "Épis" crystal and silver-plated table box featuring the celebrated Épis (Wheat) pattern, signed Lalique France. This elegant French crystal table box combines the purity of thick, hand-finished clear crystal with sculptural satin-frosted relief decoration and substantial silver-plated mounts. Designed with a robust hinged lid and weighty silver-plated frame, the box exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and timeless Art Deco-inspired aesthetic that has distinguished Lalique throughout the late twentieth century. The Épis pattern—French for "ears of wheat"—is among Lalique's most enduring naturalistic designs. Two gracefully sweeping wheat stalks are rendered in high relief across the lid, their alternating frosted and polished surfaces creating remarkable depth as they capture and diffuse light. Wheat has long symbolized abundance, prosperity, fertility, and renewal, themes that René Lalique frequently interpreted through botanical forms of exceptional elegance. Unlike many lighter decorative crystal boxes, this example is crafted with substantial solid crystal walls and a base, giving it impressive weight and an architectural presence. Equally noteworthy are the heavy-duty silver-plated mounts, whose precision-fitted frame and robust hinges provide both durability and refined visual contrast against the luminous crystal. The quality of the mounts elevates the piece beyond a simple trinket box, making it an elegant decorative object suitable for a coffee table, desk, vanity, or cocktail cabinet. Produced as Pattern No. 10579, the Épis collection dates from the 1980s–1990s, reflecting Lalique's continued mastery of combining René Lalique's celebrated naturalistic motifs with clean, modern geometric forms. The restrained design allows the exceptional crystal carving to remain the focal point while complementing both traditional and contemporary interiors. Signed "Lalique France," this sophisticated table box is ideal for storing jewelry, cufflinks, watches, treasured keepsakes, or desk accessories while serving as a sculptural decorative accent in its own right. Dimensions Width: 5.5 in. Depth: 4.5 in. Height: 2 in. Condition Excellent vintage condition. Signed Lalique France. Heavy crystal with substantial silver-plated mounts exhibiting light age-appropriate wear and retaining an exceptional presentation.
