About the Item

A beautiful collection of Vases made of opal glass all with Bronze Mounts. These types of articles and jewelry boxes were mainly made in France, Italy and earlier in Bohemia. They were made from the early 19th century to the mid 20th century. However, the heyday of opal boxes, Vases and items like this, was around 1850. Opal glass is manufactured in Europe and is a coveted collector's item because of its semi-opaque coloring and seamless appearance. These pieces are made of mouth-blown glass, the mounting is made of gilded bronze. With so many colorful shapes, these antique beauties are great to collect and mix and match. Opal glass vases, boxes and other accessories are beautiful collector's items that also fit into a modern environment. The design of the pieces is very clear and sharp, absolutely elegant and timeless. Collecting several such objects creates a cheerful and colorful mixture. Each is made from heavy opaline glass with cut edges. The gilded bronze mounting is in good condition with signs of age and patina. Found at a private Estate Sale in Italy. Size given in dimensions section refers to the large vase seen in the pictures, the smallest item is approx. 2 1/4" high and 1 3/4" in diameter.
