About the Item

English Regency Penwork Tea Caddy. This charming Regency period caddy features an all-over hand-decorated penwork design. The exterior is adorned with scrolling flowers and trailing vines, creating a dense, tapestry-like surface pattern. The tea caddy is rectangular in form and is raised on bun feet. The hinged lid opens to reveal a fully decorated interior, including a symmetrical floral cartouche on the underside of the lid. Inside are two lidded compartments, fitted with its original turned knob, designed to store different varieties of tea. The side brass ring handles and keyhole further enhance its period character. In modern interiors, this tea caddy is ideal as a refined decorative object on a cocktail table or bookshelf, in a kitchen as a historic nod to tea culture, or as a jewelry or keepsake box in a bedroom. This caddy is a wonderful accent piece for traditional, transitional, or eclectic interiors as both a functional object and a small work of art.
