Decorate a mantel, console, or dining table with this striking antique French wrought iron candelabra, crafted circa 1780 in the Louis XIV style. Forged by hand, the piece rises from a faceted octagonal base to a baluster-form stem, supporting four elegantly scrolled arms. Each arm is richly embellished with hand-hammered acanthus leaf motifs and terminates in a circular bobeche with candle cup, showcasing the craftsmanship and fluidity characteristic of late 18th century ironwork. The silhouette is both architectural and decorative, with bold symmetry balanced by graceful movement in the scrolling elements. The surface retains a beautifully aged, polished black and steel patina, with subtle tonal variations that highlight the hand-forged construction. The underside reveals original construction details consistent with period techniques. This antique candelabra is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and presents a commanding presence whether styled alone or as part of a pair.
