Camino candle holder by Sebastián Angeles Material: brass Dimensions: W 18 x D 30 x H 65 cm Also available: steel version available. The transcendence of decisionmaking and its consequences, as turning points in everyday life, are concepts that get interwoven in this creative exploration. Choices and their consequences, like the delicate fluttering effect of a butterfly capable of unleashing a storm in a remote place, constitute the guiding thread of the studio’s most recent work, which takes up a fundamental theory of the holistic paradigm in the proposal of furniture. Sebastián Angeles Mexican Industrial Designer graduated from Universidad Anáhuac Mexico, currently serves as Creative Director of Dórica (Mexican Furniture Firm), but has collaborated with important brands and companies. His professional development began prematurely, so his career seems to be advanced for his age (26). Sebastián is currently the youngest designer to collaborate with Breuer (Trasiego 2020) and the Mexican brand Pirwi, (Desierto Collection, Nominated for Iconos del Diseño 2019 by Architectural Digest) and is signaled as a design promise by media such as Excélsior, Archdaily and Reforma. His work as a designer has led the brand Dórica to national and international exhibitions such as Designweek Mexico, AMD and Wanted Design in New York. Sebastián is part of Mass Collective (a creative union dedicated to experimentation), which has exhibited his work at the Tamayo Museum and at Ventura Futura in Milan. In his stage as a student Sebastian, was part of different calls, reaching the podiums of the most important competitions in the country. Dimueble 2016 (finalist) Dimueble 2017 (first place) A! In a Surrealist play of semiotics, melted candle wax forms the candelabra itself, inspired by two of the movement’s greatest figureheads. In this design, Tusquets was inspired by one of Dalí's approaches: a softened vision of a rigid object. Candle wax was melted, solidified, and cast in bronze—originally left with its natural finish but later glazed in an off-white shade, such that when the candle burns and drips, the wax blends with the candelabra itself. Despite the influence of Dalí, the result looked somewhat like a sculpture by Alberto Giacometti, and Tusquets renamed the object accordingly. Oscar Tusquets describes himself as an architect by training, a designer by adaptation, a painter by vocation, and a writer through the desire to make friends. Graduating from Barcelona’s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in 1965, Tusquets became a member of Studi Per. Together, they founded BD in 1972, and he set about designing furniture and objects, soon recognised by the Spanish National Design Award.
