About the Item

Add an air of drama and elegance to your interior with this striking pair of antique Italian candlesticks, crafted circa 1960. Each candlestick is carved from wood and raised on a triangular base with boldly modeled acanthus leaves over three scrolling feet, reflecting the Baroque-inspired decorative vocabulary favored in mid-century Italian ecclesiastical and decorative furnishings. The tall, baluster-form stems are richly detailed and retain their original polychrome silvered finish, now beautifully time-softened with gentle variations that enhance depth and surface character. The sculptural bases provide excellent visual weight and stability, while the vertical proportions lend the pair a strong architectural presence. Decorative yet versatile, these antique candlesticks are well suited for use on a console, mantel, or dining table, and are equally effective as statement accents in traditional, European country, or transitional interiors.
