About the Item

Designed by Toni Cordero in 1992, this set of four Luminotto floor candlesticks exemplifies the designer's ability to merge sculpture, craftsmanship and functional design. Each piece is composed of a slender forged metal stem rising from a solid cylindrical base, culminating in a delicately modelled enamelled copper element that supports the candle. Individually finished in vibrant colours and accompanied by braided tassels, every candlestick possesses its own distinct identity while remaining part of a harmonious composition. Executed in high-fired enamel, the coloured copper elements reveal the depth, luminosity and subtle variations characteristic of this demanding artisanal technique, an essential component of Cordero's artistic language. The restrained geometry of the metal structure contrasts with the expressive richness of the enamel, creating a refined balance between precision and spontaneity. Conceived as architectural presences rather than simple decorative objects, the Luminotto candlesticks animate the surrounding space through rhythm, colour and verticality. Together they form a sculptural ensemble that reflects Toni Cordero's ongoing exploration of material, craftsmanship and the poetic dimension of everyday objects. Italy, 1992.
