About the Item

The characteristically bi-vaned vase-shaped body is adorned with finely chiseled and gilded bronze applications: in the lower part a winged jellyfish face is flanked by antemi, while in the upper part a panoply rests, on the neck present head with butterfly wings; the two sockets are held by two masks and end in a curl on the neck of the vase. White enameled display with Roman numerals. An expression of the Empire taste, both in form and in ornamental motifs, the clock is part of the rich and heterogeneous production of French clocks, which was widely popular precisely in the first quarter of the 19th century.
