About the Item

A charming and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Ormolu and patinated Bronze clock. This most decorative mantel clock is raised on Ormolu base with a bombee front displaying an intertwined circular design flanked by rosettes at the corners. Above is the wonderfully patinated Bronze elephant standing on a naturalistic landscape with rocks, foliage and a Salamander at the center. Above the elephant is the white enameled dial showcasing pierced Ormolu hands and hand painted swaging floral garlands, while supported on a scrolled Ormolu saddle. A charming cherub is seated above while reclining on a flowing garment amidst flowers and additional scrolls.
