About the Item

A Fine Ormolu mantle Clock after a Design by Thomire. This theme is constantly repeated during the Directoire & Empire period. Thomire is known to have used this model. The quality of the ormolu & the way that it has been worked to give texture to the skin of the Cupid, the fine work to the wings & the burnishing indicates the hand of the best chisseleurs. The movement is of 8 day duration bell striking the hours & halves & regulated by a silk suspended pendulum. Signed on the dial Le Roy Hr du Roi. A Paris.
