About the Item

Superb quality French Empire ormolu and patinated bronze mantel clock in a beautifully restrained case. The casting and gilding of the finest quality. A classically dressed maiden stands to the right of the clock housing. Applied ormolu mounts relating to Zeus with caduce to the side and a fine urn. White enamel dial signed Vaillant a Paris. 8 day bell striking movement with silk suspension. Unusually the clock has friction fitted ormolu bezels on the front.

A very smart and stylish antique French Charles X period mantel clock in ormolu and patinated bronze with original ormolu throughout and surmounted by a fine ormolu urn on a stepped base.
