Espresso Kaen Palo Santo Holder, Micro Ceramic Finish on Wood by Monics+Vieira. Dimensions: Ø 18 x H 4 cm. Materials: Micro-Ceramic Finish over Wood. Micro-Ceramic Finish: An ancient mineral finishing technique reinterpreted through a contemporary application developed for this collection. Hand-applied over plywood, it creates a seamless sculptural surface suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Each piece presents subtle variations in texture and tone as a result of its handcrafted process. Designed as a quiet companion to the Design Rituals collection, the holder transforms the act of burning palo santo into a deliberate gesture. The sculptural form balances permanence and ritual, becoming an object both in use and at rest. Milan and Dubai based design duo MONICS+VIEIRA presents KAEN: Design Rituals, a new collectible design project launching during Salone del Mobile 2026 within an extremely exclusive, undisclosed location. The collection explores emerging rituals of connection between people, objects, and space, researching how we experience time, presence, and togetherness through design. “Design Rituals” by MONICS+VIEIRA investigates how objects can shape moments of pause, presence, and sensory connection within contemporary living. Centered around the element of fire, the collection introduces a controlled and intentional atmosphere into the interior, one defined not by function alone, but by experience. Through soft light, subtle warmth, and quiet movement, each piece establishes a rhythm that encourages reflection, grounding, and awareness. KAEN becomes both a physical and symbolic framework, a space where design mediates connection between individuals, between body and environment, and between time and perception. It proposes a shift from consumption to contemplation, inviting users to re-engage with the spaces they inhabit and the moments they share. About the Artists Female-founded and based in Milan, Italy, MONICS+VIEIRA is a creative design studio driven by a shared vision of building a more harmonious world through design. Founded by designers Tania Monics and Rafaela Vieira, MONICS+VIEIRA collaborates with leading international brands, including Moooi, contributing to the global design landscape through thoughtful, innovative, and process-driven work. Alongside these collaborations, the studio continues to develop its own independent collections—projects rooted in material exploration, storytelling, and a deep curiosity for contemporary design. Each piece reflects a balance between concept and craft, where experimentation and narrative come together to create meaningful, enduring objects.
