About the Item

An elegant and architecturally refined double inkwell by renowned Swedish silversmith CG Hallberg, dating to 1931. Executed in richly patinated pewter, this sculptural desk accessory exemplifies the restrained sophistication of early Scandinavian Art Deco design. The piece features a rectangular tray with subtly upturned edges and finely detailed borders, raised on four stylized feet. Two cylindrical lidded inkwells sit symmetrically at the rear, while a linear pen rest spans the front, reinforcing the balanced geometric composition. The original glass ink inserts are present and proportionally delicate, designed to sit neatly within the wells. The surface displays a soft, even patina with light wear consistent with age, enhancing its historic character without detracting from its clean, modern lines. The underside bears maker’s marks for CG Hallberg along with Swedish control stamps, confirming its authenticity and period. A rare and functional object, equally suited as a collector’s piece or a refined decorative element for a desk or study.
