About the Item

Tango, 2024 (Porcelain, C. 15.5 in. h x 15.1 in. w x 9.1 in. d, Object No.: 4272) Lee expands the representation of animals through a combination of abstracted animal forms, focused on the attempt to capture the essence of each animal, not only in form, but also in its unique character. With her distinct visual vocabulary, her striking fusion of bold colors and delicate textures invites interaction in a multi-sensory world of her own creation. Her work speaks to her intention to uncover extraordinary beauty while stirring emotion and sparking curiosity. Lee realizes this duality with every work through this distinct visual vocabulary alongside her technically refined craftsmanship that reveals sculptures that are the pinnacle of playfulness yet elegance. Her artistic style continuously evolves around themes of joy that are influenced by her nostalgia for childhood and the appreciation of the mundane. Her palette and textures are inspired by dear memories and pleasures of childhood, from choices of electric yellow to bubbly surfaces, reminiscent of candy she used to enjoy as a child, resulting in captivating pieces that inspire a sense of play and exploration.

Unique Colorful Sculpture, Toni Losey

Unique Colorful Sculpture, Toni Losey

By Toni Losey

Located in New York, NY

Brigette, 2022 (Ceramic, C. 9.8 in. h x 9.4 in. w x 7.9 in. d, Object No.: 4006) Toni Losey’s work hums with an underlying current of rhythm and organization.  The repetition found on the wheel influences her work as Losey intuitively builds sculptural forms mirroring the patterns of growth in nature.  These works evolve within a set of rules developed from her personal interpretation of the natural world. As she attempts to marry technical processes with conceptual prowess, the work that emerges seems to exist outside of the maker, something otherworldly but organic, familiar but new. Losey’s work captures natural progressions found in nature and aims to renew our connection to the planet. Losey, born in the Canadian prairies...

Microfreaks 'Hot Shot' Creature Sculpture by The Haas Brothers & Haas Sisters

Microfreaks 'Hot Shot' Creature Sculpture by The Haas Brothers & Haas Sisters

By The Haas Brothers

Located in North Hollywood, CA

Hot Shot, active and alert, uses her stalked eyes to surveil the land for any potential volcanic eruptions and to warn all of those in the area. Make no mistake, her frantic temperament is not a weakness, as she is a known heroine. Thick-skinned, she can even swim in lava, her eyes bobbing above the boiling flow. When the heat is on, she can keep her cool. Material: Pewter base, double brass-plated and 18-karat gold-plated and hand polished three times. Hand-beaded with Venetian and Czech glass beads. Underside incised with “Hot Shot” by The Haas Brothers and Haas Sisters...

Porcelain sculpture created by the Chinese artist Kzeng Jiang for The Guest collection. This version of The Guest is by Kzeng Jiang, the first Chinese artist to join the creative universe of this iconic character. The work of the Shanghai-based designer reflects the contemporary culture of Asia in vibrant, radical illustrations. Kzeng seeks to render his cultural roots through symbols of traditions like Chinese facial painting or flower painting from the Song dynasty, reinterpreting these elements in his own personal style. In this case, for instance, he is portrayed with three big eyes on his face which, according to Kzeng, “allow him to see the past, present and future as if he were a messenger travelling through time.” As regards color, Kzeng chose blue tones on the white porcelain to ensure a sense of visual harmony and balance. He then combines these colors with touches of golden luster in order to convey the sensation of prestige associated so closely with ancient Chinese porcelain...
