About the Item

Europsyche Knoop is a unique contemporary sculpture by Chris Overvelde, created in the Netherlands in 2018. The work presents a vertically rising, torsioned form that appears simultaneously bound and ascending a gesture suspended between tension and release. The sculptural body twists around itself, creating a knot-like articulation at its centre. Above, the form opens outward in a subtle, upward extension, suggesting growth or emancipation. The surface carries a granular, almost mineral quality, the bronze powder catching light while the underlying structure retains the organic density of compressed wood fibres. Composed of cherry wood shavings combined with bronze powder, the material itself reflects Overvelde’s experimental approach transforming residual matter into a cohesive, monumental presence. The sculpture balances physical weight with visual lift, holding a quiet intensity within its restrained abstraction. About the Artist Chris Overvelde is a Dutch contemporary artist known for sculptural works that explore transformation, tension and material experimentation. His practice often combines organic substances with metallic elements, resulting in forms that appear both grounded and in motion. Condition Excellent condition. Provenance available. Abstract Organic Bronze Sculpture by César Bailleux, Belgium, 1980s

Abstract Organic Bronze Sculpture by César Bailleux, Belgium, 1980s

Located in DE KWAKEL, NL

A remarkable bronze sculpture by Belgian artist Cesar Bailleux from his celebrated Techno Nature collection. This series explores the fascinating intersection between organic life and technology, merging natural growth forms with futuristic mechanical elements into a highly distinctive sculptural language. The composition combines biomorphic volumes with flowing curves and textured surfaces, creating an object that appears simultaneously alive and engineered. Smooth polished forms emerge from rough, organically cast planes, while the elegant circular elements introduce a sense of movement and balance. The sculpture invites continuous exploration, revealing new relationships between its abstract forms from every angle. Bailleux’s Techno Nature works are characterized by their unique dialogue between evolution and innovation. Rather than opposing nature and technology, they present both as complementary forces, resulting in sculptures that feel timeless, imaginative, and strikingly contemporary. About the artist Cesar Bailleux is a Belgian sculptor best known for his Techno Nature series, a body of work in which abstract organic forms merge with technological aesthetics. His sculptures are cast in bronze using traditional techniques while embracing a distinctly modern visual language. His work has been exhibited internationally and is appreciated for its technical mastery, imaginative compositions, and beautifully developed patinas. Condition Very good condition with a beautifully developed natural patina that enhances the sculpture’s depth and sculptural presence.
