About the Item

Beautiful modular sculpture made by Nino Caruso in Italy in 1974. This sculpture is made of cream white glazed ceramic. It has four different shapes stacked as a puzzle together, creating a cool architectural look. The sculpture has a nice off-white color with a crackled pattern that makes it look very elegant. Each piece has a number and one of them has a the date on it. The cool idea of Caruso, making a modular sculpture is pretty unique. Giving the pieces the ability to multiply and create large installations with the same concept. These 4 stacking sculptures are in very good original condition without chips or other damages. Nino Caruso, born in 1928 in Tripoli to Sicilian immigrant parents, faced challenges during World War II that shaped his adolescence. Despite financial struggles, he pursued studies in Italy and developed a passion for ceramics. Caruso gained recognition through exhibitions, awards, and international affiliations. His artistic journey expanded to include sculptures in iron and his notable "Monument to the Resistance." Caruso's interest in ceramics led him to found the International Ceramics Centre, and he later explored new materials and techniques. His influence extended globally through teaching and seminars. Caruso authored ceramics manuals and highlighted the lack of attention to contemporary ceramics in Italy. In his later years, he revisited ancient techniques and experimented with forms, colours, and integrated architectural panels.

Giacomo Onestini ceramic sculpture Italy 1970

Giacomo Onestini ceramic sculpture Italy 1970

By Giacomo Onestini

Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant

Beautiful ceramic sculpture designed by Giacomo Onestini made in his own atelier in Italy in 1970. It has a combination of matte and shiny glazed surfaces. The back and sides of the sculpture have a textured surface with shades of gray, green, and sometimes turquoise. On the front, there's a carved-out section that's smooth and glazed with red and gold hues. It's a very appealing and intriguing piece. You can find the artist's signature, "Onestini," on the side of the sculpture. This piece was created in the artist's personal studio. Very nice large sized, heavy piece and in excellent condition. After graduating as a master ceramist, Onestini moved to San Marino where he found employment at the "Marmaca" ceramics factory. Around the end of the 1950s, he moved to Salerno and began working with the "Ernestine...
