Sculptural enlightened Lamp - Maximilian Michaelis Title: The elusive nature of perception, No. 09 Measures: ca. 50 x 60 x 50 cm Material: Polished stainless steel, Belgian bluestone, arcylic glas, Led The basis and inspiration for Maximilian Michaelis' work are his feelings, feelings for himself and his surroundings as well as for the society in which we are living. He is constantly observing and reflecting. The analysis of mankind, its systems, thoughts, feelings, the ambiguity of the human being always contribute to his artwork. He wants to transfer a thought or a feeling into his artwork, he is not only creating an object, he rather imbues a piece of art with an intangible quality. The drawings, sculptures and objects he creates evolve from a very concentrated and often repetitive process. An almost meditative act, a sequence which is as much part of the work itself as the feelings and ideas that leave their mark on his pieces. He develops his thoughts into an object or allow them to melt into it. Maximilian works with hundreds of wires until something comes into existence, until something emerges from a concentrated flow. He is always searching for an organic vibrancy in his work, for an aura that is subtle but still present, more to be felt than to be seen.
