Dan Pollock signed vessel, cottonwood. Signed 2014 as pictured. Dan Pollock is a woodsman-turned-artist who lives and works in California's San Bernardino National Forest. His celebrated Pollock Tables are crafted entirely by hand, from the sourcing of materials to the final carving and finish. Central to Pollock's practice is a commitment to sustainability; he prioritizes reclaimed and naturally fallen wood, ensuring that no living trees are cut down in the creation of his work. Blurring the line between functional design and sculpture, Pollock describes his approach: "My sculptures are sometimes for the sake of art and sometimes function, often both. In any case, each sculpture has its own charm and appeal." Every piece is unique, hand-carved from reclaimed wood gathered throughout the forests of California, and reflects the artist's deep connection to the natural landscape that inspires his work. Both furniture and sculpture, Pollock's sculptures celebrate the organic beauty of their materials while embodying a distinctly American approach to contemporary craft.
