Italian Grand Tour Bronze “Porcellino” Boar After Pietro Tacca, Florence, 19th C

Italian Grand Tour Bronze “Porcellino” Boar After Pietro Tacca, Florence, 19th C

By Pietro Tacca

Located in West Palm Beach, FL

Italian Grand Tour Bronze “Porcellino” Boar After Pietro Tacca, Florence, Late 19th Century A finely cast Italian Grand Tour bronze reduction of the celebrated Florentine “Porcellino,” after the 17th-century model by Pietro Tacca, itself inspired by an ancient Roman copy of a Hellenistic Greek boar. The figure rests on an integral naturalistic plinth, echoing the marshy base of the Florentine original...
