About the Item

This expressive bull made of solid crystal glass is one of the most impressive animal sculptures by the renowned glass artist Livio Seguso. With its powerful yet flowing lines and the harmonious balance between dynamism and tranquility, the sculpture embodies the extraordinary formal language for which Seguso is internationally renowned. The finely nuanced smoke-grey crystal glass gives the figure a fascinating depth and allows light to play impressively through the sculpturally modelled contours. Depending on the viewing angle, new reflections constantly emerge, impressively highlighting the sculptural character of the object. The powerfully modelled bull impressively embodies Livio Seguso's unmistakable understanding of glass as a sculptural material. Such animal sculptures were created both in his own workshop on Murano and in collaboration with Gral Glas in Dürnau during the 1970s. Since the designs of both productions are stylistically very similar, this model is today attributed to both the Murano production and the cooperation with Gral Glas. This close connection makes the sculpture a particularly attractive collector's item and an important testament to European post-war glass art. Livio Seguso (b. 1930 in Murano) is one of the most significant Italian glass artists of the 20th century. His works combine the centuries-old tradition of Venetian glass art with a modern, sculptural formal language. His works are now in numerous international museums and important private collections and enjoy worldwide recognition. The sculpture is in excellent original condition. The glass shows no damage, chips, or cracks and presents itself with a superbly preserved surface. The ground base bears Livio Seguso's engraved original signature, which underlines the authenticity of the work. Whether as a high-quality collector's item, an exceptional design object, or an elegant sculpture in a sophisticated interior – this bull combines timeless elegance, masterful glass art, and the unmistakable signature of one of Europe's most important glass artists.

Doria Big Ball Table Lamp, Hand-Blown Glass, Chrome Base, 1970

By Doria Leuchten Germany

A Big Ball table lamp in the rare version with an extra large glass body. The hand-blown glass diffuser shows no signs of damage and has the typical bubbles in the glass which additionally scatter the light. The lamp consists of 4 rods with chrome-plated bulbs on the head, as well as three glass bulbs of different heights which also provide lighting effects. The chrome-plated aluminum base shows an age-appropriate patina. Due to the height of the lamp, it can also be placed as a floor lamp. The German lighting manufacturer Doria was founded in 1945 and specialized in the production of high-quality and unusual lights. In the 1960s, the world's largest light was produced. The Doria Big Ball...
