About the Item

Intriguing 18th century Italian Santibelli in walnut. These small saint figurines were created in the spirit of the 'chreche' figurines (depiction of the stable where Christ was born). The interesting thing is that because of its lacking of the original paint, clothes, etc. It has been transformed by time and faith in a timeless sculpture which has remanences to Egyptian and Asian art. Perhaps this appearance now contributes to its spiritual attraction for the contemporary viewer.
