About the Item

Antique 19th century Grand Tour classical bronzed patinated metal library bust of Asclepius, Greco-Roman God of medicine and patron of doctors. Asclepius is the son of Apollo and represents the healing aspect of the medical arts; Perfect size for the desk - measures 9" tall x 5 1/8" wide x 4" front to back. Good condition with pleasing old surface. Wear consistent with age. Presents well. Asclepius has five daughters: - Hygieia: Goddess of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation. - Panacea: Goddess of universal remedy and medicines. - Iaso: Goddess of recuperation and recovery. - Aceso: Goddess of the healing process. - Aegle: Goddess of glowing good health.
