About the Item

This antique bust or figurative sculpture is unsigned by the artist, but is identified as originating from Italy and dates to approximately 1920 and done in the period Art Deco style. The bust and base are composed of solid hand-carved alabaster and depicts a young woman with a demure gaze wearing a period head covering. The bust is well executed from all sides and sits on a post on the tapered base. The sculpture is clearly marked in script "Italy" on the back shoulder, and we were unable to locate an artist's signature.
