Diese antike Biskuitporzellan-Büste ist eine meisterhafte Hommage a den tragischen „verlorenen Dauphin“, Louis XVII (1785–1795). Das Werk basiert auf den berühmten Entwürfen des königlichen Bildhauers Augustin Pajou, der für seine feinfühligen Porträts der französischen Königsfamilie berühmt war. Die Büste zeigt den jungen Thronfolger mit jener Würde, die für posthume Darstellungen des so jung verstorbenen Prinzen charakteristisch ist. Die Detailarbeit im Biskuitporzellan ist von außergewöhnlicher Schärfe – vom hauchzarten Spitzenkragen bis zu den Locken, die das kindliche Gesicht umspielen. Auf der Brust trägt er den Orden vom Heiligen Geist (Ordre du Saint-Esprit), das Symbol seines königlichen Ranges als Fils de France. Das Stück ruht auf einem prunkvollen Sockel, der die luxuriösesten Materialien der Epoche vereint: tiefblaues Porzellan im Sèvres-Stil, ziselierte, feuervergoldete Bronze-Montierungen (Ormolu) und eine Basis aus Marmor. Die Rückseite ist signiert mit „Pajou“ und trägt das Sèvres-Monogramm. Es handelt sich um eine erstklassige Fertigung des 19. Jahrhunderts (ca. 1870), die für Sammler französischer Royalica und musealer Keramik aufgrund ihrer Seltenheit und der perfekten Erhaltung eine wertvolle Sammlerstück darstellt.

    Wear consistent with age and use. In excellent antique condition. The biscuit porcelain is remarkably crisp with no chips or repairs. Fine details of the lace and hair are perfectly preserved. Original fire-gilding on the ormolu shows a beautiful, soft patina. Structurally sound.
