About the Item

This limited edition, fully functional chopping block by Juan Muñoz offers a disquieting quasi-narrative. The hand motif, seen here in a most literal use, reoccurred often in the artist's body of work. Chopping Block features a hand-carved, wooden hand sculpture holding a real knife with a wooden handle. This edition was completed during the time of the artist's death in 2001 and was seen to fruition by his wife, the artist Cristina Iglesias, in 2002.

Lambswool Throw by Brian Calvin

By Brian Calvin

Located in Jersey City, NJ

100% geelong lambswool Made in Scotland Measures: 61 x 51 in. Limited edition of 80 Bohemians, beauties and burnouts – Calvin is known for his figurative paintings of a typically Californian crowd. Painted in bright, sun-drenched hues with an almost cartoonish quality, Calvin’s figures are shaped by pop cultural references. Although necessarily flat, the images are not easy: the artist includes skewed crops and unknowable narratives in each composition, the result is a painting at once familiar and strange. For his first ever artist’s blanket...
