About the Item

A stunning and most attractive minton parian figural group of Cupid and Psyche by Hamlet Bourne, the classical lovers in passionate embrace on a bow fronted plinth. The Roman original of this beautiful group (itself a copy of an earlier Hellensitic sculpture) is now in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. The Parian version was first shown in the 1849 Birmingham exhibition. Signed and inscribed: Cupid & Psyche by H. Bourne Circa 1855 English
