Alba Mini Sculpture in Bio-Based Resin by Waves.STUDIO Dimensions: Ø 12 x H 15 cm. Materials: Bio-based resin. Alba is a work of art that creates space for calm, wonder, and attention to what often goes unnoticed. Alba is named for its bright and gentle presence, an earthy object that arouses curiosity. All artworks are made from bio-based resin and are individually numbered. Bio-based resin is a synthetic plastic, UV-protected, where the majority of the material comes from plant sources and third- generation waste that can no longer be recycled. EMILIE AND KASPER CREATED WAVES.STUDIO TOGETHER IN 2024 Both have a master's degree in IT project management and had not worked professionally with art or design. The art studio did not arise from a plan, but from curiosity and a need to create something with their hands. "Although our background didn't point towards us working with art and design, it felt like a very natural step. Gut feeling has been our most important compass, especially when making big decisions. It has never been about following a fixed plan, but about noticing where curiosity and desire led us. My ambition is to create works that make people stop and arouse a curiosity to explore every detail." The bio-based resin we use is made from raw materials that primarily come from waste from third-generation resources and plant-based materials. The material also requires significantly less energy to produce than traditional resins. The resin is manufactured in France by a family-owned company under energy-saving conditions before it finds its way to our studio in Aarhus. Here, the slow part begins. Each piece is created without the use of energy. No heat, no mechanical acceleration. Only time, hands, and the material's own will. This results in a 2-3 week process, where the forms are allowed to emerge organically, and where the surfaces bear traces of movement rather than perfection. We believe that it can be seen and felt. It's about making responsible choices, creating slowly, and letting the material tell its own story. Every object bears traces of the process and the conscious decisions behind it. This is where we believe aesthetics and thoughtfulness meet.
