This impressive French Art Deco sculpture, created circa 1930, depicts a stylized huntress accompanied by a leaping antelope. Scenes inspired by Africa and France’s former colonial territories became especially prominent in the late 1920s and early 1930s. This artistic trend reached its height during the 1931 Paris International Colonial Exhibition, which had a significant impact on French architecture, sculpture, furniture, and interior decoration. Viewed today within its historical context, this sculpture reflects both the visual language of the Art Deco period and the colonial imagery widely circulated in France at the time.
