About the Item

Hardstone Figures of a Dancing Moujik and Female Peasant, in the Style of Fabergé, Signed and Numbered The male figure is modeled in a dynamic stance with one arm extended and one knee bent, raised on carved nephrite boots forming the base. He wears a nephrite cap above carved black hair and a striated beard, with the face and hands executed in rose quartz. His tunic is formed from red marble with incised folds and a twisted cord belt at the waist, while the trousers are carved from yellow chalcedony with rounded contours at the knees. The female figure stands upright with arms bent at the elbows, holding a red hardstone bundle at her side. She wears a turquoise hardstone headscarf framing a rose quartz face, a brown hardstone blouse with carved sleeve folds, a dark green nephrite skirt with fluted hem, and matching nephrite shoes forming the base. Both figures are assembled from multiple semi precious stones with visible joins at the shoulders and waist. Each figure is signed and numbered on the underside of the foot, with engraved marks visible on the polished nephrite soles. The signatures are hand incised and positioned centrally beneath the base. These works reflect the tradition of hardstone carving associated with workshops working in the style of Fabergé, known for combining nephrite, chalcedony, quartz, and marble in figural compositions. The use of contrasting stones to articulate garments and flesh tones corresponds to established production methods of this type.
