About the Item

Kiwi of the Pari Daiza Sculptural Object By Caspi Ceramics NL Dimensions: W 30 x D 58 x H 30 cm. Materials: Ceramic, engobe, Arabian luster glaze, press mold, reduction firing. About: From early childhood, ceramic artist Uriel Caspi (b. 1994) has been fascinated with clay. Working with clay to articulate thoughts and feelings, the artist has developed unique working methods and his own visual vocabulary to explore and expand vessel-body spectrum. Caspi’s investigations in clay allow him to manipulate traditional forms into ‘embodied objects’ and to extrapolate the genetics of the human corpus into abstract forms, where nature and technology become indistinguishable. Visually inspired by archeological remnants and future-oriented design, Caspi creates installations of large-scale ceramic sculptures that function as platforms for examining space and time. Artifacts and speculative species are transformed into clay through an experimental process that occasionally merges ancient ceramic techniques with digital fabrication. His works evoke aesthetics of antiquity and visionary habitats in tandem. Uriel Caspi has been working internationally as an artist-in-residence and a fellow in the academia. He earned a BFA in Ceramics from the Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem (2018), and an MFA from Alfred University, New York (2021). He has exhibited works and installations in museums, galleries, art fairs and venues across the world: the Armory Show with Yossi Milo Gallery, NYC; Sculpture Space, NY; Faenza International Ceramics Museum, Italy; Collect Art Fair 2025, London; Salon C-14, Paris; Westerwald Ceramics Museum, Germany; Musée de Carouge, Geneva; Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv; Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taipei; and Musee Tomo, Tokyo. Caspi has worked internationally as an academic fellow and artist-in-residence, including the Archie Bray Foundation (Montana), EKWC (Netherlands), Cercco - Geneva University of Art and Design (Switzerland), Höchster Porzellan Manufaktur (Germany), Northern Clay Center (Minnesota), and others. His honors include the Hecht Award for Emerging Artist (2019), the Artis Grant (2023), and the McKnight fellowship (2024). Born in Haifa, Israel, Caspi is currently based in the Netherlands.
