About the Item

Statue in bronze with medal patina "Psyche and Cupid" realized by Jean BULIO. It represents Psyche, recognizable by her butterfly wingst. Her chest is bare and she is holding an arrow in her hand. Cupid, a winged child, holds on to her leg to get it back. The bronze is signed in hollow on the terrace. It rests on a circular base in pink veined marble with ormolu frieze of foliage. Jean BULIO (1827-1911) is a French sculptor graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Known for his sculptures cast in bronze, he made historical busts or mythological allegories. In 1859, he entered the Salon with a Pandora in plaster.
