About the Item

Kallisti by Alekos Fassianos for Daum, blue pâte de verre, 1988. Signed and numbered 145/200. Alekos Fassianos (1935-2022) was one of Greece's most celebrated modern painters, known for a distinctive figurative style steeped in Greek mythology and Byzantine imagery, dominated by blue tones. He studied in Paris in the early 1960s and exhibited at the Venice Biennale, among other major venues. The title "Kallisti" — Greek for "to the most beautiful" — references the golden apple of discord from Greek mythology, the object that triggered the Judgment of Paris and, ultimately, the Trojan War.
