About the Item

This door once occupied the entrance of a traditional Timor long house, dating to the early 20th century the door is visibly old with a wonderful age related patina and weathering. Timor is an island amid the eastern islands of Indonesia. This panel was carved with exceptional skill from a single block of hard-wood. The door sits on a black iron stand. A wonderful decorative, tribal object certain to invoke conversation. Its neutral colour makes it the perfect addition to any space, bringing texture & warmth. Given the detailed and elaborate carvings this door likely belonged to someone of nobility or high ranking.
