About the Item

A handsome hand-carved rock crystal obelisk, rising 12.5 inches in height and distinguished by the exceptional clarity and luminosity of its natural crystal. The tall, elegantly proportioned shaft is cut in the classical tapering form and polished to a high finish, allowing light to pass beautifully through the stone and illuminate its fascinating internal structure. The remarkable transparency of the rock crystal reveals naturally occurring veils, wisps, fine fissures, and mineral inclusions suspended within the stone. Rather than detracting from its clarity, these characteristic formations create dramatic internal reflections and flashes of light, giving the obelisk a remarkable sense of depth and movement when viewed from different angles. Such natural inclusions are inherent to genuine rock crystal and make each specimen entirely unique. The tapering four-sided shaft terminates in a crisply faceted pyramidal point and is raised on a substantial architectural pedestal composed of a square plinth, faceted molding, and stepped geometric elements.
