Large Polished Ammonite Shell Fossil, Cleoniceras Species, 100 million+ yrs old. ***NOTE: Our 1stDibs store is closing soon.*** A truly spectacular ammonite in both size and appearance. Weighing almost 8 pounds, with subtle differences in colors from front to back side, giving you options for display. One side is a light to medium golden tone with darker shades of red, gray, burgundy, etc., while the shades of the other side are similar but slightly more earthtone-neutral. We believe the large golden-yellowish colored areas are from agatization, which is unusual and sought after. This piece will need a stand for you to display it upright. We've shown it in a stand (not included due to risk of metal damaging the ammonite in shipping) in some photos but we think it deserves a special stand more suitable for it. Since this is a prehistoric fossil it will show its age (of course!) potentially such as cracks, pits, etc. We do our best to find the nicest possible items with the least bothersome imperfections and this is a very beautiful ammonite.
