About the Item

An exceptional René Lalique “Origan” perfume atomizer bottle, designed in France in 1925 during the height of the Art Deco period. Created for D’Héraud perfume, the bottle is executed in clear molded glass with distinctive black enamel decoration accentuating the elongated vertical motifs of the body. The glass is complemented by an elegant gilt-metal atomizer mount, creating the refined contrast of transparent glass, black detailing and warm gold-toned metal characteristic of luxury French perfume presentation of the period. The sculptural, tapering form and strongly stylized decoration reflect René Lalique’s mastery of transforming functional perfume vessels into important decorative objects. Its combination of geometric rhythm, transparency and applied enamel makes it immediately recognizable as a sophisticated example of French Art Deco glass design. The bottle bears the molded mark: “R. Lalique Paris France” This model is documented as the “Vaporisateur Origan” in Félix Marcilhac’s reference work Vaporisateurs de parfumeurs identifiés, reproduced in the Félix Marcilhac Catalogue Raisonné, page 955. The piece was acquired from Cabinet d’Expertises Félix Marcilhac, France, and retains a corresponding label on the underside of the base. Please note: the sale includes only the bottle and metal fitting as shown in the photographs. No additional atomizer bulb or accessories are included. A highly collectible example for admirers of René Lalique, French Art Deco glass, antique perfume bottles and early 20th-century luxury decorative arts. France, 1925. Please note that colors may vary slightly depending on lighting conditions and the screen on which the photographs are viewed.
