About the Item

Spanish Faience Albarello Hand painted in a vibrant palette of cobalt blue, ochre, green and manganese on a cream tin glaze ground. Typical waisted cylindrical form is decorated with pastoral scenes featuring a deer, a hare, flowering foliage and a farmhouse, framed by geometric borders Traditionally used by apothecaries to store medicinal herbs and remedies, combines function and artistry. This example is in good condition, with light crazing, authentic age related wear including glaze fritting and wear to the foot rim. Spain 19th Century.
