About the Item

Cloaked inside and out with a glossy black glaze, this antique Chinese pickling pot was originally used for fermenting rice or sorghum into vinegar. The dark glaze sheets down the sides with an opaque finish and subtle tonal variation. The jar is potted to a bottle-like shape, with tapered sides, rounded shoulders and a narrow neck flanked with small strap handles. Perfectly imperfect, the rustic vessel wonderfully exemplifies the timeless appeal of handcrafted pottery.
