About the Item

A quirky and very retro French Barbotine Majolica cache pot dating from the 19th century, and featuring an eye-catching design of succulent painted fruits encircling its rim. The pot itself is glazed creamy white inside and out, its curvaceous body shaped into vertical flutes. A cache pot was historically used to cycle the display of plants indoors and outside throughout the year, allowing them to be grown in their weathered, utilitarian pots when outdoors, but still displayed most elegantly when brought in to the house. This gorgeous example would be an ideal gift for a collector of Majolica pottery, or a fabulous way to display an exotic houseplant.
