About the Item

Empire Miniature Urn in Gilt and Dark Patinated Bronze, 1820s A refined and beautifully proportioned miniature urn in finely chased gilt and dark patinated bronze, executed in the Empire style during the 1820s. The elegant silhouette is enriched by a striking contrast between the warm mercury-gilt bronze and the deep dark patina, a combination highly characteristic of the sophisticated decorative arts of the period. The urn is raised on a square base adorned with crisply cast Empire ornamentation, while the body is encircled by a richly fluted gilt collar beneath a gracefully flaring rim decorated with stylized leaf motifs. Despite its modest scale, the piece possesses a remarkable architectural presence and sculptural quality. An exquisite decorative object, perfectly suited for a desk, mantelpiece, cabinet, or neoclassical interior. Wear consistent with age and use.
