About the Item

A fine pair of antique, diminutive French cassolettes or covered urns. In very finely cast, doré gilt bronze. With full figural cherub handles, ornate Neoclassical decoration, and flame finials to the cover. One finial is secured with a bolt. One is not. Simply a wonderful pair of cassolettes! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: Perhaps one finial is re-secured. There are some light indentions and casting flaws throughout, spotting through the gilding from the underlying bronze, some wear to the gilding (particularly high points and edges), and some edge wear. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: Width: ca. 3 in. Height: ca. 5 1/2 in. Depth: ca. 2 1/2 in.
